| I haven't been in the rescue business in 20 years, but word gets around I do reptiles and therefore...
..so I come home to a 10 gallon tank with a ball python in it. Pine bedding, looks like it hadn't been changed in....well ever. 60 watt house bulb for heat no water. no hide box Snake is perhaps 3 feet long
Snake is emaciated, no fat on it, can feel spine, it's very prominent. Bad sheds on it, no muscle mass. I picked it up to put in a tub of warm water and it defecated, lots of air bubbles, white liquid and green (bright green) watery stools.
Cleaned out and bleached the hell out of everything. Put in clean water, hide box, newspaper, proper heat lamp. Snake went and hide immediately Never stuck tongue out while exploring and never fought me when I was cleaning off sheds.
Clearly sick, I'm mainly concerned if the green stool is a sign of salmonella or not.
Suggestions? Anyone want a sick ball? | |

| I would defiantly take it to a vet, it's probably sick I don't know if its salmonella. I would care for it but I don't have a huge place to keep it away from my healthy balls. | |

| A warm gateraide soak helps bring up the energy and helps to rehydrate. First meal should be a rat pinkā¦make sure it can digest that before giving it prey with a developed skeleton and hair. | |

| Put in 3 rat pups, 2 live, 1 not. "Lucky" is currently eating the live ones. I good sign I think. Didn't get Gatorade, got Pedialyte instead. | |

| Would you be able to post pictures of the snake? Its very kind of you to take it in like you did, though I cant imagine a reptile enthusiast who would not. | |

| Sorry for the delay here, I bought a house and have been moving. Lucky eats well, and her stool is normal now, still more triangular than round in her body, but the food I hope will fix that. He shed once already and underneath looked so much better. Fresh shiny and clean. Some scales tore in the shed, but healed up quickly. | |

| Here is a really overexposed shot (forgot my camera was set for concert work) of Lucky, but you can see the spine clearly. Shy, but eating, and curious about his surroundings, which I take as a good sign | |
