Lobbying HB1242 & SB477 Empty
PostSubject: Lobbying HB1242 & SB477   Lobbying HB1242 & SB477 EmptyThu Jan 26, 2012 10:42 pm

After getting up at 3:30 this morning and JUST walking through the door getting home, I CANNOT stress enough how important it is for ALL of us to band together right now and FIGHT these bills. We only had about a dozen people show up today to fight this bill and we were outnumbered by Humane Society. My Herp peeps.... WE NEED YOU! I totally know we all have jobs, but for your animal's well-being, we all need to fight this. Even if you can only be there when the bills are on the docket, that's great!!!! If all you can do is mail letters in to the delegates PLEASE do it! We have to get our voice out there. My biggest concern is IF this bill gets passed as it is written right now, not only will the animals already on it be outlawed, but it makes it VERY easy for them to add more and animals down the line. Perfect example is Rhode Island.... So, for me personally, I only have 4 animals that this bill will effect, however, if it gets passed and more animals get added on, I have about 47 more that can be taken away from me. I guess what I am saying is, don't think it won't effect you, because down the line, it just may.... Sad

I'm the same way. I am no good with words. I'd probably come across very angry and say a few things I shouldn't. If someone has a pre-written letter I can try to print it out at work (I have to be sneaky), sign them and send them out.

I'll work on a letter for y'all to personalize this weekend. One thing that a lot of the legislative aides said to us is that letters that are "form" letters don't get looked at like individual, personalized letters do. So, I'll help best I can!!

just write something that comes from your heart!! I am not that great with letters either and I managed to piece together a pretty good one IMO. Thanks Lori for helping hand out my letters that I took up to y'all yesterday morning as well. I will make sure I am there for the docket.

Your welcome... David pretty much handled the handing out of everyone's letters since he had stacks of them to hand out for people, so he deserves the credit Smile And, I agree... It needs to come from your heart. I've been sitting here for the past hour trying to write a "form" letter and it's so difficult because everyone has so many different reasons as to why it will affect them!
