Another black racer hatchling that appears to have been feeding well on skinks and is turning darker. By this time next year will probably become the solid black color that people are used to seeing.

Yes it has been. I am goIng to work on layering it this fall with sticks and leaves between so that the bottom sheet does not get so hot in the summer. I've also added plywood, hay bales and carpet. I have observed 9 species of snakes, 3 species of lizzards/skinks, 2 types of salamanders, toads, and box turtles. All at this site in my back yard.
