Rat Breeding Empty
PostSubject: Rat Breeding   Rat Breeding EmptyFri Mar 14, 2014 11:00 pm

Hi there everyone, sorry for all the posts but I have a question concerning rat breeding. Is it like breeding ball pythons where there is the normal gene (fancy rat from petstore) and then you could breed it to the one genes (dumbo rat) and get 50% normal aka fancy or 50% dumbo? And for the hair less. Could I breed it to a normal and get normals and semi hairless and then I have to breed the semi hairless to a hairless or to a semi hairless to get a hairless? Is this right? I am kind of confused. Can someone please help me? Thanks:)

dumbo, rex, and hairless are all recessive traits I believe. So like albino in ball pythons the gene has to carried by both parents in order to show up.

Yes, and with hairless you can only really breed the males as some a infertile or the females won't be able to nurse so easiest bet for hairless would be to get flexes and doubles rexes
