Leaving the area for a while

So i have to go to San Diego for work for a few months.
Was wondering if anyone has ever been out there and know if there's any place to look for herps

SAN DIEGO IS AWESOME!!! YOU LUCKY DUCK!!!! Never been herpin, but the desert is not too far...so yeah... I'm sure there are plenty of places.

I lived in Oceanside for a couple of years which is basically half way between LA and San Diego. If you get a chance, go up around Monterey. They have lots of open areas to poke around in. I used to love watching the fog roll down the mountain and fill the valley. It looked like smoke when it was traveling and then a cloud laying on the ground when it stopped.
