So I have been looking at doing educational shows and volunteer work with my snakes. Does anyone know if there is a license to work with snakes. I have been looking for a while and have not been able to find one but someone told me that it would be required to work with them. I am aware that I would have to carry a liability insurance, but am not too sure what else would be necessary to make sure im not breaking any laws.

I've done a lot of work in schools and have never come across any permits or licenses.

I havent either i did a show for the girl scouts this year and they didnt say anything about a license or permit either. I was gonna try and do a Halloween show in my area but the director said i needed a license and have yet to actually come across any such license. Ive even given pictures to a talent agency and even they didnt say anything about a license. Guess he just thought there might be one. I was just trying to make sure i didnt add another black eye to the community due to lack of knowledge of the law.

Good on you for double-checking! But I haven't heard of any type of licensing for just doing educational shows, only insurance, which it sounds like you're on top of.

As long as you are only using exotic herps, no state permit is required. However, if you are using native herps you'll need this permit:
