| Chris, in an earlier post you posted: - Quote :
- Breed em. Its so super easy. Probablly the easiest thing to do. Go to petco buy 2 containers of 500 count worms and put them in a 32 qt tub and fill the tub 3/4 of the way with oat bran that you can get at tractor supply and leave em in a warm place. The worms will morph into aliens then into darkling beetles then the beetles will lay eggs. Before you know it you will have so many worms youll be supplying your county lol. Take a piece of news paper and get it damp and place it in the tub. Thats all ya gotta do. Its easy
Everywhere I read on the net says in order for the worms to turn into beetles, you need to separate them without food or moisture (in a warm spot). Have you done the method above? Does it work? I've got 1,000 supers coming in the mail today and was going to try this method, but can't confirm that it will work. Thanks | |

| I can't find the thread but I think Chris's post was in reference to mealworms, not superworms.
I think you are correct about the superworm requirments.

| It was the Richmond show thread for the March 11th show. I went back and looked and it could have been about meal worms. Crud. Now, I've got to figure out how to separate a bunch of those darn worms. It would be nice to breed these along with my dubias and black soldier fly grubs. | |

| The method I've most seen is using the black film canisters. You may be able to buy them in bulk for really cheap. | |

| I needed to order more 16 oz. deli cups, so I just added a 125 cups and lids (black 2.5 oz.). Should work the same and cost me less than six bucks. This is going to be a long project from what I understand, but once it is up and running, like my dubia colony it should provide a good supply of food. I just hope I don't become allergic to superworms! | |

| Good luck with them. I got superworms to pupate using bead organizers and pill organizers, but for some reason once they became beetles, they would always die. Let me know how your colony works out. | |

| Things seem to be going well. I've got about a dozen beetles in a container with bedding. Hopefully they are making worms! | |
