| What humidifiers does everyone use? I'm looking for one and can't seem to make up my mind. I'm looking for a solid unit that can be set to a specific level. Also one that will not require too much attention. My room is a standard bedroom size but overkill is fine as I'm sure the space will expand one day.
I'm not looking for something cheap that will underperform or need to be replaced in a few months.
Thanks for your help. | |

| I started with an ordinary Vicks vaporizer. I had issues filling it up 2-3 times a day. I have since modified a 41qt tub to hold the Vicks element section (middle piece) and only need to fill it every 2-3 days. | |

| I received my new humidifier last Friday (this thread pushed me). I got the 9-gallon Honeywell for $99 shipped off amazon. It has a wet filter that cleans the air too. | |

| What is your first impression of the Honeywell? I'm leaning towards the one Don posted but haven't made a firm decision yet. | |

| It's ok. It's a pretty simply concept and doesn't produce steam. It does circulate air very well but a little bit of a pain to fill. I did figure out an easier way to fill but you need a hose to do so. The humidistat works like a rheostat more than a thermostat, i.e. You can't set it to a specific humidity. It keeps an appx 16'x16' room at around 60% for 24 hours before a refill. That's with an additional oil heater which normally is around 20% without a humidifier. It's not silent, but it's in the snake room, not next to my bed. Considering what I paid, I'm happy. | |
