not sure trash can size for sure. It jumped it the water when i tried to get closer for another pic. Biggest Ive seen in a while though

There's a creek by my house that we used to catch them in. We pulled some monsters out of water less than a foot deep.

Monsters!? - Lived on the warm side of Lake Anna where the hot water is discharged from the nuclear reactors. We saw some pretty large turtles! This is just a hatchling:
