Tubs for Rats Empty
PostSubject: Tubs for Rats   Tubs for Rats EmptySat Mar 10, 2012 1:23 pm

I'm looking for a good tub to use in building my first rat rack. I found a few in various places but I have no experience with rat racks. I'm looking for a spacious, relatively inexpensive tub. Any suggestions?

Home Depot has mortar mixing tubs in two size, big and fickin huge. They are either $5 or $7 I believe and they are the typical tubs you see in homemade racks.

Ok, I think the large tubs are $12 but this is what they look like:

Does anyone know if they make clear tubs similar to the ones sold by bean farm? Not the semi-clear stuff I see all over the place.

Minus all the stainless steel of course. I'd get gobs of bonus points with the fiancee if she could have the clear tubs!

The ones at home depot that they carry now are thicker and stronger then the ones they used to have. They work great. I have 6 racks with these and they work great. I also have a few racks i made with freedom breeder tubs. A little more expensive but great tubs

That is awesome nick but maybe I'm missing something. How in the world can those rats get to the food? Aren't they a foot tall?
*Edit* Ok, I see it says you filled them 2/5 with bedding. Survival of the tallest. Very Happy

They get bored and move the bedding around. I've never had one not reach the food/water and my brother uses it to this day for furries. Rats raised in mortar tubs seem to have difficulty for a while but eventually got it. I guess they aren't use to not being able to jump.
