Breeding Kingsnakes Empty
PostSubject: Breeding Kingsnakes   Breeding Kingsnakes EmptyThu Nov 10, 2011 10:06 am

I have a female king at the moment that is about half grown. She was given to me by a friend. I promised this friend I would not breed the king female as my friend is afraid that she will get eaten by the male. Now I know king snakes are cannibles so how does one go about breeding them successfully? What are the chances of one of the snakes getting eaten during a pairing?

Does anyone have experience breeding kings, and if so, can you shed some light on the subject. I will never breed Iggy, as I did promise my friend, but I do want to get into breeding kings and in the next few years might pick a few kings up from shows to begin breeding. I just want some info on breeding these snakes.

ive never actually bred them. but ive seen it done a few times. usually ive been told to keep them fed and keep a close eye on the pairing. some breeders have just thrown them in a tub together and let them be for a while but most people ive talked to that breed kings on any scale have special tubs they monitor closely during breeding.

As long as your snakes are well fed, they probably wont eat each other... keep an eye on them though Wink
