PostSubject: breeding tegu   breeding tegu EmptyFri Nov 08, 2013 12:16 pm

i have a female Argentine black and white tegu. she is a little over a year and 28.5 inches long. i am wanting to breed her. does anyone know how big or old they need to be to breed? also i i have seen some things that say if you are going to breed them they need to hibernate. but she doesn't seem to want to hibernate. also if she is big enough to breed when do i put her and the male together? i have a red male lined up to breed to her and he isn't much bigger than her.

she is beautiful and has a great temperament.
i have also seen stuff that says for the best fertility rate she needs to be bred to two males not just one.

Everything I've seen and Heard says that most large lizards (Monitors and Tegu's) need to be about 2 years old. I Will contact a few breeders I know and get back to you on the other info ASAP
