just wondering if anyone has any experience with the eastern indigo snake. i know it's a protected species here in va. they're kind of expensive and they require a permit to keep. just always loved the way they look and the possibility of having a 7 or 8 foot colubrid that's jet black. any thoughts?

i had one for a short time when i lived in florida..... my dad tried to kill it so i told him id get rid of it and instead i kept it in my closet for almost two months. they are pretty docile, or at least that one was. there are really neat and absolutely gorgeous.

yeah, ive heard their temperment is very good for a snake of that size. and that's one of the attractors to them for me. i've talked to a few people about getting one and theyve always said get a cribo instead so that i wouldn't have to deal with the permit. usually that means ill get one of each Very Happy. i have always heard that they have pretty specific requirements though and for the life of me i can't find too much about them.

Brian Sharp has some. I don't know if he is breeding them, but if he is you won't need a fed permit. Do you need a state permit if it was hatched in VA??
