Home Wanted Empty
PostSubject: Home Wanted   Home Wanted EmptyWed Mar 20, 2013 10:01 pm

Well, it's happened. When we first applied to live in this apartment complex we told the gentleman handling our application that we had reptiles and a bird. We asked if this counted towards the 3 pet limit. He said no. So we signed a lease with them and all was fine and dandy for a year and a half. They come in to do an inspection and call us this evening to say the number of reptiles is "excessive" and their housing is not adequate (they were referring to the rack system) and that they are giving us 21 days to remove the ferrets and all reptiles.

We are looking for a rental house or house for sale. If anyone knows of a house that would accept 4 cats (non-destructive and neutered/spayed), 4 ferrets, 1 small bird, and my reptiles, please let me know. We are speaking with a realtor now to see if we can qualify to buy a house with a small down payment and move within the next month, and he's going to see what he can do for us.

If you know of any homes for sale or rent please send me a message with the details.

Sorry, but you have to admit that if they have a three pet limit that you are way over that. It is one of the things that really suck when you sign a lease. Hope it works out for you.

while yes the cats are over that, we were assured the caged animals didn't count towards the 3 pet limit. Its the caged animals they have the biggest problem with. Once I went to check on the snakes I found they'd opened some of my tubs. The tubs are clear. There is no reason to open the tubs and I plan on making a complaint. One of the tubs they opened they did not shut all the way and I'm lucky my largest female ball didn't make a run for it.

Just an update. We found a house closer to work that is allowing all of our animals. They even rewrote the lease to include the reptiles. :-) We moved in over the weekend.

Thanks. While I freaked out in the beginning and was very upset, everything worked out perfectly. We are closer to work, closer to friends, have a back yard, and each and every animal under this roof is included in that lease. And I have the go ahead to breed the reptiles. They were even okay with the rat breeding. Now I can really start focusing on my snake breeding and actually start expanding. I have plans to replace one of my racks and add in another rack or two and then once we are settled a bit more, I plan on getting more snakes. Smile
