The Hampton Roads Reptile Expo on October 7th.

I couldn't find a thread specifically on this so I thought I'd throw it up.

I think we're going to try to attend. We were going to try to vend this or the Richmond show but the season's just about over for us. Are you still vending this one Don? Is anyone else vending or planning on attending?

Yup, got two tables and need to get some 8x10 promotional materials for VAHERPS and VHS. Since I got two tables I've got a little extra room to promote us and the Herp Society.

I have a table at this one also. This show is going to be a good bit bigger than the first show. He is also doing some radio ads to get the word out in this area.

I may head up there this time. Theres been quite a bit of advertising, have actually seen a few fliers around here recently.

Where is it being held?

I will definitely be there (I'll have a VaHerps shirt on so you can't miss me!).

Don/Clay, I just ordered 100 of these stickers. If it's fine with you, I can bring them by for your tables to hand out.

Nick you are more than welcome to put any VAHerps stuff on my table.

ALL southside residents REMEMBER that the southbound lanes of the HRBT and JRB will be closed for the rest of this weekend and then the next 2 or 3 weekends so your only way home is the MMBT and apparently that was backed up for 9 miles yesterday and people are hugely upset that there hour drive home is taking them 3 or 4 hours.... be prepared for the traffic headache when you come home!!

The eastbound lanes of the HRBT will not still be closed at the time of this show. The closures are only through Sept. The southbound lanes of the James River Bridge will still be closed the weekend of the show.


According to VDOT:

•All eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 at the HRBT will be closed for paving operations on three consecutive weekends (Sept. 14., Sept. 21 and a rain date of Sept. 28). The closures will begin at 9 p.m. Friday and conclude by 5 a.m. Monday, according to a VDOT statement.

•Southbound lanes of the James River Bridge will be closed for work to replace the bridge grid deck on five consecutive weekends from Sept. 14 to Oct. 12. Closures will run from Friday at 9 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m. Once work is completed on the southbound lanes, crews will close the northbound lanes for four consecutive weekends to continue the deck replacement, the statement said.

Anyone know how big this show is going to be in comparison to the Richmond show? I'd like to go, but I want to know it's gonna be worth the gas, it's about an hour and a half out from me.

Might be worth it to go just to see everyone and get some VAHerps stuff though

I ordered my Square credit card reader last night so don't forget to bring your plasticto the show. Can't wait for next weekend.

Those Square readers are the bomb. I've used mine several times. I was talking to a couple of big breeders who have merchant accounts and they are going to get rid of them and go with square, since they only need it for shows. They said there is no need for them to spend money monthly to maintain their account, when Square will take care of them without the extra fees.

Hey zues do you happen to have a list of animals you will be bringing with you? Iwont be able to attend the show due to still being outta state but may send someone out there for me to pick some stuff up.

LOVED the expo!! it was way better than last time, I picked up a cute Red Eye Tree Frog, and can anyone tell me who the vendor was with the Halloween Crabs? Thanks!!!

So from what my buddy says the show was great and he did end up getting us a few things. We bought 4 het pied females from Don (Thanks Don!) . Then he picked us up a nice looking lesser pastel girl and a black pastel het ghost girl. I couldnt be happier with those pick ups really expanding my females i cant wait till 2 years when all my double gene girls can breed!

Had a good time glad to see those that I did. We ended up making out well. This show was better than the last.

Definitely a better show this time around. All in all I would say the for it only being the second show it was pretty good. I did pretty good also. Got rid of most of the stuff I brought and picked up four 5 slot 32qt racks from Outback.

I had a fantastic show and it was very well done. Toni should be commended for his good work. They even had an inexpensive lunch set up. That was really nice. We sold a bunch of snakes! Good thing I've got some new clutches ready for the next show on October 28th.

Thanks Don Im hoping my current pair will breed next season and produce a male to put those girls to when they are up to size.

Honestly, this was the best show I have ever been too, better than Hamburg IMO. Very, very clean. No body odor and there was air conditioning! Very roomy and well laid out. A very well rounded event. I highly suggest hitting this show up next time. I think the best pro of this show was that ever last vendor was welcoming.

Yeah I talked to him when things were wrapping up. He has more and is making a delivery to Yorktwon next week so he is bringing them down with him.

I didn't make it out, but the pics in the other thread say the show was pretty good. Glad everyone had a good time and dealt some great business

We got one of the racks from Outback and Miles' friend Josh got 2 I think? they got the 3 in a deal? Enjoyed this one a lot... was different on the "vendor" side of the table and helping people. Let a little girl hold her first snake... her face was priceless

Sold our Pinstripe Breeder and traded the rest of what we brought to sell for a nice Male for next year.

Outback had more back at the shop and has a delivery down this way later this week so he is dropping them off at Tony"s store. If anyone else is interested he may have more.

Don, it was a pleasure meeting you and your wife. My oldest son bought the male pastel breeder from you. That was an awesome deal. You have some great quality animals. We will definitely be looking for you at other shows.

To the organizers of the show... Kudos. Well done. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many people showed up and the selection of animals available from the vendors. Saw some really nice animals but only managed to walk out with 5 new additions to our collection. 3 breeder sized and a couple babies. Looking forward to the next show. I'll help spread the word.

Thanks volley6man, I appreciate the business and hope that male does well for you. It was kind of funny coming home and seeing his rack tub empty. When I sell adults, I always have a little tinge of regret when I remove the tags off their tubs. I've raised those things since they were little worms. I hope he produces well for you. Let me know if you have any questions.

I agree that the organizers of the show did a great job. After last year's flop, I was a little concerned with vending this one, but Toni really turned it around. It was first class all the way!
