Feb 18th - Manassas Show

Anyone going? I might go since I have the day off.

Nope. Don't have anything to vend and show isn't big enough to travel up there for me.

I requested the day off. If i get it i am going to try to go.

I don't plan on buying anything either but I love going to shows. I'm trying to find one of my friends to go with me to make the trip worth it. If I don't, I'm not going. I can't wait until late spring when I can get a baby male boa morph. The Manassas show is the biggest I've ever been to.

Yikes!!! You gotta get out and see more!!! There is so much more available than this show has. It isn't a bad show, but it doesn't compare to most. I would recommend waiting and looking online at breeders for boa morphs or go to a bigger show. Much more available especially with balls. JMO

Oh yea, definitely going to be waiting to go to a bigger show or getting a boa boy online from a breeder. And I won't get one until this spring. (I just had a male ball python pass away last weekend unexpectedly, so my entire collection is in lockdown.)

We will not be there. I will be in Powhatan area outside of Richmond for my daughter's cheer competition that day.. and we will probably still be cleaning up from the move and cleaning out the old house before the walk thru on the 28th.

We will be in Hamburg at the end of the month though. Bigger shows are worth missing some cleaning time lol.

I will probably go to this one to buy feeders. Which means I will probably be skipping the Hamburg Show, because I really don't need any more snakes.

I am looking to get 2 Herpstat or Helix thermometers to plug into my UTH's. Do you think they would be any at this show? Are they a bit cheaper or should I just go ahead and order them online?

I find that the show prices are about the same, but you don't have to pay shipping, but do have to pay sales tax. You might want to also check out Vivarium Electronics. I've got Helix, Herpstats and Vivarium Electronics and like the VE's the best.

Does anyone know if there might be any Hognose snakes at this show? My friend wants a young one.

Thanks for all the info guys. Also what about equipment? How many venders will be there ya think? I need to get a few hides and I was thinking about just those black plastic shallow ones like the ones Reptile Basic carries. Should I wait or go ahead and order then online?

I've actually never been too impressed with the manassas show.

I've never been to the manassas show. Only havre de grace and hamburg. Since manassas is so close i would really like to check it out. If i don't like it, than not much gas wasted.

The Manassas show is really the farthest I can go for a show. The gas would kill me if I went to any other show. Now if some of us carpooled and I had the day of the show off from work, then I'd go to the bigger ones.

The last Manassas show I went to hurt my feelings. I wouldn't expect it to be better at this time of year but I am not a frequent visitor.

Did they have a decent selection of boas? I'm not in the market for one right now, but maybe late spring, early summer, I plan on getting a male boa and want to start looking for breeders and prices.

I usually go to get feeders. But as far as variety... it's a hit or miss...I guess I've missed every time I've been. This time of year is a bit rough too.... spring/summer I would assume are better shows, but I usually hit Hamburg during those times.

No, not really. They did have a very nice Argentine Boa for sale at one table and another, I think normal BCC, that was overpriced, underfed and appeared to be on it's death bed.

I don't want to say just negative things about this show, so there were a couple breeders that had great quality animals and a nice BP variety.

If you are driving far and have a bunch of people that are excited about seeing a lot of stuff, this show may not be worth it. I drove a total of five or six hours and I think it was $8 a person to get in, and I did three or four laps of the place in less than an hour and went home with nothing. I know $8 is not much, but this is also the same price of many larger and better shows. This could have been easily a $2-3 admission given the size.

I decided not to go. My friend ended up not being able to go and I don't want to go by myself. I did that last time and walked around for an hour and left. It's not worth the trip up there.

I wont ever say a shows not worth it. I always see something cool at every show. But I to hate going see that one cool thing then finish a round and leave. Not as many vender show up, then attendance goes down. Some of it is probley due to the easyness of the Internet. Smaller fees for posting and don't have to leave your home. Iam guilty of both selling and buying like this and not going to shows. But on some of the big dollar animals I would like to see it in person.
