| I have a male that can't seem to shed in one piece. Obviously the humidity isn't high enough although my female does fine. I made a humid hide out of warm damp sphagnum moss but the snake avoids it like the plague. Do BP'S not like sphagnum? My colubrids love it for nesting. | |

| What do you use for bedding, I use cypres mulch that holds humidity well. When I have a snake in a possible dry shed I just add water to the bedding.

| That's a good idea. I use newspaper since they are fairly new to my collection so I can monitor stools. They do have a water bowl more than big enough to soak in but the male won't whereas the female will. | |

| The title made me giggle because I truly believe they hate it. I made lay boxes with sphagnum my first two years breeding and it was major fail. They mostly avoided it but when they didn't, they destroyed it and pushed it all out of the way when it came to lay time. I also think dead sphagnum stinks after a while and I think that was about the time they were done with it. There are some cuts out there that are amazing and I couldn't think of a better bedding if I was a snake, but every experience I have had with Balls have never worked out. If I need extra humidity in the hide, I stuff it with extra newspaper, remove the snake, mist it and the snake does the rest. They usually mold it to their liking and it reduces foul smells and growth. | |

| Thanks!! I could tell he didn't like it. When ever he touched it he pull back quickly and went the other way. Hes never avoided his hide before so I think there is something to it. | |
