Irian Jaya carpet pythons

I have a female Irian Jaya carpet python and did have a male as well at one point for a future breeding project until I was forced to give him up because those I live with felt there were too many snakes in the house. Ugh, but people will always be afraid of these unusual guys. Anyway, I know these guys are rare in the pet trade since there are so few of them in the wild, but do they actually sell for $200 each? I got both of them for a lot less than that and am pretty sure I can breed them still since the male is being raised by a breeder. I've told an exotic pet store owner that I have a mature IJC python and he got very excited. To me, she's just my happy, curious pet snake and I love interacting with her since I think she's quite a majestic animal. Then again, every pet owner thinks that about their animals or else we wouldn't want to keep them.

They are great snakes, I dont think they are all that rare. At one point they were the snake to have, over time they lost some of there following. But there are still some great people working with them and producing some fantastic animals. And people will always be afraid of any snake. They are not as lucky as us to enjoy what they are.
