| Ooh one of those fancy red x cameras. I hear those are pretty pricey. | |

| Sony RX100 - I wanted something that took great photos, but didn't want to spend a bunch of time learning how to setup a manual DSLR. My current interest is to take great shots of the snakes, without a lot of fiddlings with settings. This camera is point and shoot and is highly recommended by professional photographers that I've consulted. I'm very pleased with it. | |

| A suggestion from a photographer:
Your camera focuses on the closest past of the snake (the normal ball python patterning) and as such, the depth of field you (or the camera) selected was too narrow to render the head, and especially the eyes, in focus, thus the whole shot looks out of focus. A trick when photographing things with eyes, focus on the eye, and then the rest will seem like it is in focus, even if a shallow depth of field is used.
Aside from that, the composition is fine, as is the isolating background. | |

| I did that in this picture, but when my wife looked at both, felt that the focal point of the photograph was the side of the snake (spot) and not the head. I originally, thought this picture, where the head is in focus was the better picture. Thanks for the tip. | |

| One of the advantages of shooting reptiles is their general inclination to stay in one pose for extended periods, thus giving us many chances to work with pics of them. | |
