| Oh my gosh.
I went to mist my geckos and discovered that one of my breeding males (in with a female) had a prolapsed hemipene. It was definitely prolapsed. I have seen hemipenes, well, quite a few times considering that I breed geckos. This one had come all the way out and would not go back in. He continued licking and biting at it. I quickly moved him to a sanitary tub with wet paper towels and heavily misted him.
Did some research, checking on him throughout, and after an hour the hemipene returned to its normal position.
I am extremely relieved. Correction often involves amputation and costs upwards of 300 dollars, assuming one can even find a vet to do it! | |

| All you have to do with a prolapsed hemipene is whisper in their ear that if they don't put it away the doctor will cut it off. Works with males of any species. | |

| My first experience with anything of that nature. Luckily none of my geckos have had to pay the vet a visit...thus far. Unfortunately in any hobby it is inevitable. | |
