Perhaps this should be in another discussion form, but it is a general question about lizards. Is there a specific name the study of lizards only?

Yup, herpetology. From Wiki:

Herpetology is the branch of zoology concerned with the study of amphibians (including frogs, toads, salamanders, newts, and gymnophiona) and reptiles (including snakes, lizards, amphisbaenids, turtles, terrapins, tortoises, crocodilians, and the tuataras). Batrachology is a further subdiscipline of herpetology concerned with the study of amphibians alone.

One more question, why are tuataras considered part of herpetology (the study of reptiles and amphibians)?

While not Lizards, according to Wikipedia tuataras are part of Order Reptilia so are considered reptiles and would be included in herpetology.

Yea, they seem fascinating. I would love to have one or two of these "dinosaurs" but I think it's impossible unless your a zoo and really big one at that.
