Have you ever tracked how much water you use to fill water bowls on a big clean up? I've done 32 cages so far, and just started the 3rd gallon. And am just starting the big animals.

I fill mine in a sink. I have never thought about that but now I'm kind of curious.

My total was just into 7 gallons, that's for 80 snakes and one BTS.

Probably if I do all my animals in one day, 300 gallons. That is most likely very conservative. My water bill is high as h e double tootpicks! Turtles will break the bank every time. Plus, I don't like filters.

I use about 1.5 gallons twice a week on water bowls. I use one gallon a day on rats. I use three gallons a week for my chlorhexidine soaks. I use half a gallon on daily misting. Lord knows how much I use rinsing bowls and cleaning tubs and hides.

I have no idea and couldn't even guess. I'm just glad I have a deep sink in my reptile room.

No idea how much water we use... wouldn't want to guess... we are up to about 40 BPs but then to add in cleaning and rinsing bowls and misting.... holy crap. That's a lot of water I guess....

I think when we expand our reptile room into half the garage, I want a sink put in there because emptying and carrying and cleaning and carrying back and refilling bowls is a disaster.. that's usually when I tap out and go do something else...

No filters with turtles, don't that get messy?

Nick, what's the chlorhexidine for??

sm58:
no, for me I think 100% water changes weekly are easier. Once in a while I can go longer but for the most part I change my tubs on the weekends. I've been doing it for a long time so I am used to it.

Barry, I soak the water dishes, tools like tongs and scissors, and hatchling hides when they release all that nasty post-hatching poo. I sit them in there for a few days to a week and then scrub and rinse them. The glass bowls come out spotless. I've used bleach in the past but I have chlorhexidine that's expiring soon.
