The snake isn't mine, but the photo is. Taken for my son's school project. With special thanks to the owner for allowing me the time with it.
Nikon D1x, SB-600 f/11 on a 70-300mm lens (my Macro hadn't yet arrived, so I was using the pseudo macro feature of this lens)

Which macro lens did you get?

I now have the Sigma EX 50mm f/2.8 Macro.
It is a wonderful lens and I'm on the hunt for reptiles to photograph.

Here is a Crested Gecko as an example (taken by me at the Route 10 Reptile Show in Richmond in July) of what it can do. Much sharper than what I was working with.

I use a Nikon 60mm 2.8, works great for most macros. Use a Nikon 105mm 2.8 macro for some shots. Considered the 200mm macro, but think it maybe to specialized and it wouldn't get used enough to justify the cost.

I dearly want the 105, but can't justify the cost, esp. when I'm saving up for a D2x (which I can't justify the cost of either, considering I'm just do photography for fun)
