| I would guess your slugs have nothing to do with age. In the wild they retire the day they die. | |

| Agreed. I think slugs are from temperature issues. Bring down he tems and things should be better. | |

| My temps are on 90 fahrenheit during the day and 85 at night thime in every single tub of mine. I was told and actually read that those temperatures are the way to go.. well, i have one more clutch on the way from a proven female.. will see what comes out of her. The 10 year old was not that big and i actually didn't even think she was gravid.. | |

| Hope all goes well for you and your older girl Zeus has a point, I had never really thought about it that way lol I guess, at some point, the risk outweighs the benefit of the pairing, and it derives into how much you value the female over any potential health risk versus how interesting and/or profitable the outcome might be. | |

| I had a female slug out last year and a couple of others that produced some slugs. After a lot of research, I dropped my temps a few degrees (90 to 88). So far this year we have more eggs than last and not a single slug. | |

| I'll set everything a degree lower and see what happens.. I did try a lot of different beddings out as well and hope I found the right one now. Some of the ones I tried were to dry and some were to moist. This sphagnum moss from reptile basics seems to be liked the most from my snakes. If I don't keep it too moist the snakes seem to really enjoy this bedding. I kind of believe that the changes I put them through with me moving had influence in this as well.. Thank you guys though, the temperature was something I was not aware of..! | |

| I agree with Marco on the sphagnum. It looks so great I could curl up and take a nap in it . L | |

| I always wondered this too. My husband wanted me to breed Xavier but I never knew how old is too old, needless to say I never tried. | |
