I found this nifty first aid kit supplies list online today. We are making first aid kits for all of the animals in the house soon and so I was doing a little research. Thought you guys would find it useful.

Reptile First Aid Kit

Information:
  • Veterinary Clinic Phone # and Directions to Clinic

  • Emergency Clinic Phone # and Directions to Clinic

  • Poison Control Phone #


Supplies:
  • Magnifying Glass

  • Cotton Swabs

  • Soaking Tubs

  • Scissors

  • Turkey Bastor (I'm not quite sure what this one's for

  • Tweezers

  • Clean Towels (Paper and Cloth)

  • Nail Clippers and Metal File

  • Rectal Thermometer

  • Pet Carriers

  • Styptic Powder or Corn Starch

  • Lubricant (KY Jelly -without spermicide or Mineral Oil)

  • Gram Scale

  • Stethoscope

  • Pen Light

  • Disposable Gloves

  • Heat Packs

  • Scalpel Blades and Handles

  • Syringes of Various Sizes

  • Eye Dropper


Bandaging Supplies
  • Varying Sizes of Gauze (some sterile)

  • Non-stick Pads

  • First Aid Tape (Paper and Adhesive)

  • Bandage Rolls (Gauze and Vetrap)

  • Various Sizes of Splints (toothpicks, popsicle sticks, tongue depressors)

  • Stockinette

  • Gel Foam (ask vet - stops wound bleeding)

  • Bandaids (for humans)


Nutritional Support
  • Meat Baby Food/Canned Cat Food

  • Fruit and Veggie Baby Food

  • Nutritional Suppliment (Nutri-Cal, VitaCal, or Nutristat)

  • Pedialyte


Medicines
  • wound disinfectant ( Betadine or Povidone Iodine Scrub)

  • Triple Antibiotic ointment (no pain reliever)

  • Antibiotic opthalmic ointment

  • Eye Wash Solution

  • Sterile Saline for Wound Irrigation

I would utterly panic if something happened so this list seems pretty helpful for alot of issues that could arise... are you joining up with the Dooms Day Preppers? Wink

I have a few things but nothing like that. I believe most people don't do that for there dog.
