It's time!

Installed the back up thermostat on the incubator and cranked her up. Now to get the temperatures stable. Then the wait for eggs starts.

I just upgraded one of my wine coolers to a mini fridge. I have to run heat tape and a fan still, but I'm digging the new setup. I love this time of year and the anticipation.

Keep us updated with pics. Some of us have a long way to go before breeding...and need to live vicariously through you.

I've got lots of pairings going on: Pied X Pied, Pied X Spider, Pied X Albino, Bumblebee X Mojave, Bumblebee X Lesser, Albino X Albino, Killerbee X Super Blast, Mojave X Lesser, Pastel X Mojave, Pastel X Lesser, etc. Many of those are multiple females. Almost all of them have had multiple locks. I just counted baby bins and I've got room for around 120 babies this season, though I doubt I will have that many - but I can wish and would rather be ready.

It sure is exciting when the incubator is ready. I just hope lots of those pieds come through this year. Last year, they let me down, except for the Pied X Mojave pairing.

Me too. One thing I've learned is that breeding ball pythons is more about waiting than anything else. First, you wait for the babies to grow up to breeding size. Then, you wait for the males to lock with the females. Then, you wait to see the females go gravid. Then, you wait to get eggs. Then, you wait for those eggs to hatch. Then, you wait for those babies to shed for the first time. Then, you wait until they eat. Then, you wait for buyers or for them to grow up to breeding size..........

It really is a waiting game.
