Ok, I have heard if you ad a bit of vanilla extract to rodent watering systems it helps reduce the ammonia smell. I was wondering if anyone had some input on this.

I tried it and didn't think it did much. I read somewhere that it may gum up lines and during the last cleaning, two lines had a bunch of gunk. I've never seen that in the three or so years I've been breeding rats.

Ok, I was just wondering. I clean once a week and was just wondering if there was another way to help reduce the ammonia. I haven't had any problems with my watering system but I use 1/2 cpvc. I have had the occasional valve leak on me though.

What food are you using? I've had the lowest smell of ammonia with Mazuri.

I noticed results with masuri 6f, tried the vanilla but never noticed results. No clogs or actual build up during use but you can see coating on water supply and feed lines
